Babble

I wish I had 8 arms. It's a bit frustrating, having to work on one craft at a time. While I'm making something, I can't wait until I get to move onto the next project. At the same time I can't rush anything, or else the item will undoubtedly become ruined.

I'm eager to start making soap and shampoo, but I have to exhaust my current materials first, make as many books and jewellery and ornaments as I can before justifying further expense to do more crafts. This probably means another summer will… Continue

Welcome to my world of paintings and functional art.

My way of adding art to my life is by painting and otherwise beautifying bookcovers and using them to make blank journals and notebooks. I sew and glue up everything by hand. Depending on the size and volume, I fold the pages by hand as well. Some books come with an attached bookmark.

I also paint African-inspired Christmas and Kwanzaa ornaments. They are handturned wood, so they'll last for several generations!

My other passion is jewelry-making. I enjoy making pretty things that people can wear. I weave all of my jewelry. I use simple stringing only when I have woven a pendant and need to create a band for it. Stones and glass are the only beads I use. Nothing plastic!

I've been making jewelry, books, and ornaments since I was a little girl. You should've seen how I adorned myself in jewelry made of aluminum foil, paper, or flowers and leaves!

The books I made back then were filled with stories and drawings, and bound together with yarn or ribbon, unlike the books I make now, which are blank, sewn with thread, and waiting for you to fill them. :)

Making ornaments for my family's Christmas tree was my favourite Christmastime activity. Yes, even more than opening presents! It makes perfect sense to me that I should engage in these crafts as an adult. I am thrilled to share my creations with you. Thank you for letting me. :)
